Dr Neil Garner, founder and CEO of award winning technology innovations company Proxama will be hosting this special evening seminar.

| | Dr Neil Garner |
Neil will cover some of the exciting developments in mobile phone technology and consider how these will change the way that we do a number of things, from paying for goods and services to accessing and sharing information.
Proxama helps a wide range of organisations - from retailers to banks - offer better services through the intelligent use of consumer technologies. Clients include Sky, MasterCard, Tesco, BT, Royal Bank of Scotland and Virgin.
Neil will base his discussion around a technology that is coming to mobile phones called Near Field Communication (NFC) and will consider how NFC will change the way we currently do a number of things. Specifically he will discuss:
- mobile marketing and advertising - how services will become more interactive with a better level of personalisation. Advertisements and web services will become interactive via your mobile phone.
- Paying with your phone - how contactless bank cards and tickets (like Oyster) will lead neatly into mobile payments.
Neil has a MEng and DPhil in Electronics, both from York University and is a Chartered Engineer. He is an industry face for NFC and most importantly is a firm believer that if technologies are not easy to use - then people just won't bother with them. This belief is at the core of the services that Proxama brings to market.
Professionals in design, marketing, advertising, new media, telecommunications, finance and retail will particularly find this event fascinating and have a chance to meet Neil and his team. They'll be plenty of opportunity for hands on experimentation with NFC technology and as usual, lively networking afterwards over a glass of wine and nibbles.
