Bill Jordan: waking up to whole foods
After seeing the benefits of eating whole foods while travelling through California in 1969, Bill Jordan brought the idea of eating wholesome foods back to the UK. Bill and his brother David set up their business at the back of the Jordans family flour mill and made their first organic breakfast cereal in 1972. Today the business employs around 350 people and has an annual turnover of about £70 million, making them one of the largest British-owned breakfast cereal manufacturers. They export cereal and bars to over twenty countries around the world, winning the Queen’s Award for Export in 2005. In 2007 Jordans sold 20% of the business to international food and retail group Associated British Foods (ABF) and formed a partnership for growth with ABF owned Ryvita. Bill will be sharing his fascinating business story and his passions for great taste, wholesome ingredients and a wildlife-friendly farming approach.
