Eamon FitzGerald: Naked Wines UK
Norfolk Network was delighted to welcome Eamon to share his entrepreneurial journey and the story of online retailer Naked wines.
Eamon’s work mostly involves scouring the globe for the world’s most talented independent winemakers and setting them up in business. Naked wines call their customers Angels because they fund independent winemakers from around the world, in return for wines at wholesale prices. The company currently ship wine throughout the UK, the USA and Australia.
The business has won major accolades including the Online Business of the Year at the National Business Awards in 2011 and in December 2013 were named one of the top 1000 companies to inspire Britain by the London Stock Exchange Group. In April 2015, Naked Wines was acquired by Majestic Wine and Rowan Gormley, founder of Naked Wines, was appointed CEO of the enlarged group.
Eamon’s background
Eamon previously worked for Decanter magazine, and on the side of a mountain in the Languedoc picking grapes. Before that he worked for financial services clients in London and Dublin for management consulting firm Accenture. He graduated from Trinity College Dublin in 2007 with a first-class honors degree in Business Studies & French and an unhealthy passion for wine, marketing and languages.
The venue
We were excited to be guests at the Enterprise Centre at UEA, the dynamic new gateway building to the University campus. It’s the UK’s greenest building and ground breaking in design and build.
