Start up! Sync the City 2016

Norfolk Network

Sync the City 2016 launches Thursday 17 November. The event is created by SyncNorwich and UEA and brings together budding entrepreneurs with experienced business mentors and technology expertise. Teams are formed, whose members include entrepreneurs, developers, business managers, marketing gurus and graphic designers. They have 54 hours to develop and pitch ideas for new startup companies.

It is an exciting challenge, where working prototypes and demos are presented to a panel of judges. This intensive three day marathon is worth the effort as participating teams have the chance to win £4,000 in cash prizes (£3,000 judges’ winner and £1,000 people’s choice), as well as sales training from Sandler Training and one year associate membership of Norfolk Network.

But regardless of prizes, the reward is genuinely the taking part as innovative ideas are generated and shared. The process of learning is valuable for both professional and student, previous events has seen the participation of students from Norwich University of the Arts and University of East Anglia, who have taken from the event a deeper understanding of technology, communication and collaboration. The results often lead to enhanced degrees and graduate employment.
